Today was my daughter’s birthday and I made her a special bunny for the occasion!
Paris is her favourite city, so it was easy to pick the theme.
She was in Paris a couple of weeks ago with her work but she can’t wait to get back there again.
We have had a wonderful day together, after a beautiful lunch in a lovely restaurant, we went back to her and her hubby’s house for tea and birthday cake (it’s all we could fit in)!!
Happy birthday sweetheart!!! :)

A sleeping Polly.
Millionaire shortbread in the cake tin.
A new girl called Juliet.
Pretty primula in the kitchen.
Hope you all have a lovely weekend, thanks for your ‘visits’ this week and welcome to the new visitors too!
It’s my boys birthday tomorrow, sadly he won’t be home from Berlin to celebrate with us but hopefully he’ll be home next month and we’ll celebrate then!
Happy birthday son!!!
Happy weekend! :)
December 31, 2013
Well here we are at the end of another year…that was quick, wasn’t it!!
According to WordPress I uploaded 657 photos this year, so picking one per month was difficult but I tried to choose one that represented that month for me!
We had a busy year on the home front with our daughter getting married in July, so wedding preparations coupled with all the renovating and decorating we did around the house made for a hectic first six months. The wedding was of course the highlight of the year and what a wonderful day it was, the sun shone, in fact that was the beginning of the fantastic spell of weather we had this summer. Lyndsey was a beautiful bride and everyone had an amazing time, its hard to believe that it was six months ago now. She is very happy in her new home with her new husband and lives only four miles from me, so I see her all the time! My son on the other hand moved quite a bit further away at the beginning of August when he decided to go to work in Berlin. He has been home three times since then so although it’s not wonderful it’s not too bad, he just went back a couple of days ago after his Christmas break and hopes to be home again in January.
The second half of the year was at a much slower pace and in October we managed another trip to the south of France, our second visit this year as we were there as usual in May. It was lovely to get back again and it stretched summer by another week for us, you know how I like to cling on to summer.
2013 was the year that I eventually got my own craft room and I have to say I love my little space, it’s great having everything I need to hand and especially having my sewing machine ready for use at all times.
Throughout the year I enjoyed my garden time and I can’t wait to get back out there again, I’m already planning what I’m going to grow! I’m sure too that I’ll have the company of my many cat assistants as I did in 2013.
I have also loved sharing my outings and day trips and visits to ‘my park’ with you and hope to do all that again in 2014.
One thing I have noticed that is missing from my photos is the amount of cooking and baking I do, there is lots of it but for some reason I never get around to sharing it maybe I’ll try and share more of it in 2014. One of my missions in life is to convert everyone to vegetarianism, I’ll never do that if I don’t convince you all how good life is without meat!!!
I’m sure you must have noticed one thing missing from my 2103 collage….my bunnies, well I decided they needed a collage all of their own. Again it was difficult to pick just one per month as I made fifty-four of them this year, all of them happily living in new homes across the world. Thank you for all your encouragement, my stats certainly go up when I do a bunny post, I really can’t believe the amount of interest in them, I had to stop my waiting list as it was getting out of hand and start using my Etsy shop to sell them. My last group of ‘girls’ sold in two minutes, I am so very grateful for your support. I really enjoy making them, dressing them and naming them and the fact that others enjoy it too makes me very happy, so thank you! I am at the moment making my Valentine girls who hopefully should be in my shop at the end of next month….there are hearts everywhere! So lots more bunnies in 2014!
Finally I would like to thank all you lovely people who have visited my blog this year and have left so many wonderful comments, you make Green Rabbit Designs for me. I have made so many really good friends through blogging, who I would love to meet in ‘real’ life…..maybe one day.
Thank you for being here throughout 2013 and I hope you will return in 2014.
All that remains is for me to wish you all good health and happy times in 2014.
Enjoy what’s left of the month, the year and winter, I’ll be back soon with pre-spring…happy days!!!
Happy New Year! :)
August 27, 2013
As I mentioned in my last post I am in the process of getting my own little craft room and during a lot of sorting out quite a few little bits and pieces have come to light again. Some of them have been around for quite a while. I remember getting some of them from an elderly neighbour of my aunts when I was a young girl. The little doll faces came from this old lady, is it me or do any of you find them slightly creepy?
This crochet yarn is still in it’s original celophane!
It’s going to stay in it’s paper too!!!
A new way to take up your trousers and an implement from the time when people darned their socks! Maybe you still do!
On the subject of vintage treasures it was my Hb’s birthday today, good job he doesn’t read my blog! ;)
We headed to the coast for some lunch on what was a drizzly day.
It really was quite wet when I took this photo.
The lighthouse is Donaghadee lighthouse in County Down. The Irish Sea was looking quite grey and moody today.
This view is across Strangford Lough.
So there you are, I managed a post without flowers or rabbits!!! ;)
While I’m on the subject, can I just thank you all so much for all your lovely comments on my last post. In hindsight it looks like I was fishing for compliments, that wasn’t the case at all, I just felt that my posts were all becoming a bit samey. I love my quiet simple life it just doesn’t always make for exciting blogposts but you have all been very kind, so thank you!
So tomorrow my boy is home and we will continue the birthday celebrations with a family tea!
Wishing you all a great rest-of-the-week! :)
July 10, 2013
Well the 3rd July 2013, our daughter and her now husband’s wedding day was everything we had hoped and planned for and much more. The weather behaved itself perfectly (thank you for crossing everything). It really was great and I can’t quite believe that a week has now passed since the ‘big day’!
As promised here a few wedding photos, I’m afraid we actually have limited photos at the moment as we were in so many of them and we’re relying on others to provide us with some until the official photos are ready. I know there were thousands (not exaggerating!) taken but we still only have a few !
Just a couple of things! The bridesmaids dresses were Copen Blue and not lilac which they appear to be in the group photo, they are more like the colour of the delphiniums in Lyndsey’s bouquet and I am really sorry but I don’t have any photos yet of the whole bridal party so you will have to take my word for it that the boys were all extremely handsome. Also I don’t usually have that grin on my face (I hope I don’t in all the photos) and my hair isn’t usually that big!
So just a little snippet of the day, there was so much more captured which I don’t have any photos of yet, I can’t wait to see the official photos. She got the wedding she had always dreamed of and we all had a wonderful day!
They are on honeymoon now cruising the Mediterranean starting in Rome, visiting Naples and the Almalfi Coast, Malta, Mykonos, Santorini, Ephesus, to name a few and finishing in Venice.
Meanwhile here at home my Hb is off on holidays this week and we having lovely days out, picnicking, walking and enjoying this fantastic weather.
Happy Wednesday my friends and thank you all so much for your lovely comments, emails and good wishes for Lyndsey and Jonny’s wedding day!
July 3, 2013
Well my daughter’s and her fiance’s big day has arrived and if WordPress gets this correct by the time you are reading this we will have sat down to our reception meal. I have included some photos to give you a little taste of the day, there will be more of course.
Blocks commissioned from the ever so clever Fee!
Card made by my lovely talented blog friend, Jane.
Many, many crocheted linen corsages made as favours for the lady guests.
Well I’m sure you have figured out there is a Parisian theme running throughout the wedding, it’s a city they both love and where they got engaged 18 months ago.
We have lots of lace, the most beautiful shade of blue and a vintage vibe going on as well!
Thank you all so much for your lovely kind wishes in my last post, they were very much appreciated.
I’ll be back soon with some more photos.
June 28, 2013
Wedding ‘Bells’ that’s what we are at the minute, that is all our lives consist of at present!
Although there are lots of things going on here, there is nothing I can share with you just yet so all I have to show are more pictures of my garden, sorry. It has been a little sanctuary for me, both it and ‘my park’, places to relax and forget about wedding stuff for a little while.
My orange buddleia is in bloom and…………
it’s a-buzz with bees! They love it!
I have a multitude of marguerites in bloom….
If you’re passing call in and I’ll give you a bunch!
So we’re on the final countdown now, the weather forecast isn’t looking great to be honest, so if you could please cross everything you’ve got for some decent weather, it would be much appreciated. It’s the one thing we can’t plan.
The dress comes home today!!!
The next time I’m back hopefully I’ll be able to share the wedding.
Happy weekend my friends! :)
May 17, 2013
As this is one of the prettiest times of the year to visit ‘my park’ I thought I would take you on a little walk. Everything is so green and as the theme of my post is ‘bells’, it is a good time to show you all the bluebells that are now in full bloom!
I really don’t think my photos do them justice as the sea of blue is just amazing!
The blue and green together is so beautiful.
Weddings ‘bells’ next and as it’s now less than seven weeks to my daughter’s wedding, the invitations have been sent out. They have been designed by my graphic designer son in the style of a vintage French postcard.
I’m afraid this is a very tenuous link to the ‘bells’ theme but as I promised I would share it, this is how the ‘Bell’s’ kitchen now looks after the revamp!
I don’t have a huge kitchen but much better use of the space has been made and as the decorator has now finished painting it is all now complete, thankfully!!
So it’s the weekend again, can you believe it!!
Thanks as always for visiting me here in my little space, I love it when you stop by and say hello and please know that your comments are much appreciated.
Wishing you all a happy, sunny, springtime weekend! :)
March 9, 2013
Despite a rather wet and windy Saturday, spring is still happening out in the garden, bless them they just keep on going no matter what the elements throw at them.
Poor little daffodils hanging their heads in the rain!
Not only do I enjoy making bunnies, I enjoy buying them too! This pretty little thing is Pip and she has been made by the very clever Nicky from The Vintage Magpie, isn’t she gorgeous! You can find more of Nicky’s wonderful creations here.
As far as my own bunnies are concerned well I have been making some little springtime skirts this week, hopefully next time you see these they’ll be on some springtime bunnies!
And the title of my post, well today is my daughters birthday and we are all off out tonight for a family meal!
Happy Birthday Lyndsey, wishing you a wonderful day!!! xxx
Before I go I would like to thank the lovely Christina of From The Hearth Room for awarding me the Super Sweet Blogger Award, that was very sweet of you Christina!
I hope you all have a lovely weekend and manage to see and feel a touch of spring and to all mothers everywhere, Happy Mothering Sunday! :)
