March 2010

A few weeks ago I received my very beautiful gifts for the Spring Surprise Swap from Jean which you can read about in this post.
Today I’d like to show you the gifts I sent to Jean, now that I know she has received them and I’m not going to ruin her surprise!

I handknitted Jean one of my little bags and then crocheted a matching corsage.

I also knitted her a loopy scarf.

As part of the swap we had to send our partners two fat quarters of fabric so I tried to chose two fabrics that for me represented Spring!

Finally I added a few more little surprises!

I would like to thank the Dutch Sisters, Corry and Heleen for all the hard work they put into organising the swap.
Not only has it been great fun taking part in it but it has also been great fun getting to know my swap partner, Jean!

First of all before we get to the winner of the bag can I just say thank you to all of you who entered the giveaway!
I was overwhelmed by the number of entries I had and I just wish I had something for each of you but sadly there can be only one winner.

Twenty-nine lovely ladies put their names forward to win the bag, so all their names were written out and popped in the bag.
I figured that if your name was pulled out of the bag then it was meant to be yours !!

So after a little rummage around the name that was pulled out was………………………..

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~JULIA CROSSLAND~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Congratulations Julia !!!
If you email me your details I’ll get the bag posted off to you.
Julia writes a lovely blog and if you haven’t visited before, you can find Julia here.
It was very interesting finding out what were your favourite Spring flowers.
I was amazed at the variety of flowers that were named.
However the most popular was the beautiful tulip!
Thanks again to everyone for taking part, I hope you all have a lovely week ! 🙂
One year ago today my little blog began!
My children set it up and gave it to me as part of my Mothers Day gift last year.
They knew how much I enjoyed reading other crafting blogs and decided it was time I had my own!
Now the whole idea of running a blog definitely appealed to me but the uploading and downloading etc.etc. completely overwhelmed me and to be honest I hadn’t clue.
So my poor little blog was very, very neglected for about eight months.
However in the New Year I decided that I really had to get the hang of this blogging lark!
I decided to take part in the Dutch Sisters Spring Surprise Swap and in MarmaladeRose’s 20 Minuters and knew that the blog would be useful for these.
So I got going and I have to say I am enjoying it and that it’s not really all that scary!
To mark the start date of the blog, I have decided in true blogging tradition to have a little giveaway even though I feel a bit of a fraud as I haven’t actually blogged for a year!!
One of the main reasons for having a blog in the first place was for my little bags so I am offering one of them as the giveaway.
The bag up for offer is hand knitted in a clover pink coloured wool/alpaca mix yarn.
It is lined in a pink cotton fabric with a little inside pocket.
It has a crocheted flower in a cream wool/alpaca mix yarn with a button centre covered in the same fabric as the lining.
The bag can of course be used as a bag but can also be used purely as a decoration.
Hung over the back of a chair or bedstead or on your dressing table to hold your bits and pieces.
Or on a door handle with a cute teddy peeping out!
Anyhow the bag can be yours to do as you wish simply by leaving a comment on this post.
Just to make it interesting let me know what your favourite Spring flower is.
Comments close on Sunday 28th March at midnight, British Summer Time.
I’ll pick and post the winners name next Monday 29th March.
Looking forward to hearing from you!!! 🙂
                                           Thank you, the Spring Giveaway is now closed.
Because I really needed some more yarn and fabrics !
Honestly I did !!! 🙂
                                                Happy St Patrick’s Day to you all !!!
Happy Mothers Day to all Mums everywhere !!!
On a personal note I would like to say to my husband, son and daughter thank you so much for all the lovely gifts you gave me for Mothers Day.
Thanks for being my family.
Love you all !!! xxx
Today the postman brought me this very enticing parcel.
I immediately loved it as it had a lovely bunny on the front!
I soon realised the parcel was from my Spring Surprise Swap partner, Jean.
It was tempting to rip all the paper off and see what was inside but I knew I had to take my time and photograph the whole process.
Firstly, we had the two fat quarters that we all had to include in our packages as part
of the swap.
Jean very kindly sent me two Amy Butler fabrics in beautiful shades of green (my favourite colour).
Next was a vintage tea towel beautifully hand embroidered in cross stitch by Jean
with my initials and my favourite animals, two sweet little bunnies! x
Now folks look at this gift, a most exquisite bag made by Jean in gorgeous Amy Butler fabrics!
Isn’t it just fantastic!
Jean says she has never made a bag before but you wouldn’t think that to look at this bag.
It is lined and has lots of pockets for keeping bits and pieces in and it too has a lovely
little cross stitch panel on the front.
I really, really, really love my bag, it is sooooooooooo beautiful.
Thank you so much, Jean!! 🙂
Jean also included a lovely hand made card with some delicious cinnamon tea, which I’m looking forward to.
Can I just take this opportunity to thank Jean so much for all her lovely gifts to me and for the time and thought that went into them.
She has been so kind and generous and it has been great getting to know her!
Thanks, Jean! xxx
Happy Birthday Beautiful Girl !
Have a Great Day ! 🙂 XXX
Enjoying the first crocuses in the lovely sunshine!
Enjoying my lovely pink tulips in my lovely new Avoca mug!
Enjoying this months Country Homes and Interiors magazine, which has a feature on the shop where I bought my pretty mug!
I’m very lucky in that I only live about 25 minutes from an Avoca shop.
So many beautiful things to buy!
And finally enjoying a spot of “bag” knitting!
Hope you’re enjoying your day!
The 1st of March and hopefully the beginning of Spring!
The sun is shining and the greenhouse is lovely and warm.
An ideal opportunity to do some planting.
So today was tomato planting day.
The seeds are in !
Now we’re looking forward to sweet and juicy tomatoes in the summer. 🙂
