January 2013

Don’t worry I haven’t forgotten how to spell, it’s just everything I’ve been doing today has started with the letter ‘B‘ !

Like making Brooches.

Blanket making.

And of course Bunny~ing!!!

However if it hadn’t been for the Blooming rain, I might have been out and about and wouldn’t have had the time for all these things today.

On the bright side though, despite the rain, the temperature is 12 deg C today, now that does feel like pre~spring!

Happy Tuesday. 🙂

Well the weather here has certainly changed, I can’t say it’s for the better but at 7 degrees C compared to earlier in the week it almost feels balmy!!! It is however extremely wet and windy and the above photo shows exactly what we are looking out at this evening.

So it’s going to be an evening of bunny cardigan knitting and seed catalogue perusing, which I have to admit I love, all those plants waiting to be grown.

Speaking of bunnies, I have finished the bunny that I gave you a glimpse of earlier in the week and the reason for the title of this post.

Valentina Collage

Here she is, meet Valentina!

Now I know I’m almost three weeks too early but she’s all ready for the big day and is in fact on her way to her new home.

She is of course completely dressed for Valentines Day with lots of hearts.

I hope you all have a great weekend, thanks for dropping by and for taking the time to leave all your lovely comments.

Happy weekend, see you all next week! 🙂

This burst of yellow is an antidote to all that white out there in blogland today and comes from my lovely bunch of daffodils that have been brightening up my living room this weekend.

I think this little corner of the UK got off quite lightly with snowfall. It did snow on Friday evening and the quiz we were to go was called off, as is always the case here when a few flakes fall everything gets cancelled but by Saturday morning the snow has disappeared almost everywhere.

My son’s birthday got well and truly celebrated and a good time was had by all, snow definitely didn’t stop play!

no snow Collage

Just to prove that I’m telling the truth about having no snow, these photos were taken in my garden this morning.

Even though we’ve had little snow it has been cold and has definitely been crochet by the fire time, I even gave the park a miss this weekend but bunny making did take place instead.

Now as I type this, flakes of snow are falling but we did have a bit of rain this morning and the ground is quite wet so it’s disappearing as soon as it lands. Hopefully it will continue to do so because this IS pre~spring and there is NO place for any white stuff!!!

Happy new week everyone! 🙂

Teatime Tilly 2 Collage a

Meet my new little girl ~ Teatime Tilly!

Tilly so enjoys her tea made in a warmed teapot with tea leaves and served in a china cup and saucer! No teabags or mugs for her!!!

Another week almost gone and more than halfway through the first month of 2013!

We have a full weekend ahead, we have a table quiz tonight (must look up the capital city of Outer Mongolia).

It’s my son’s birthday tomorrow ~ happy birthday Stuart! We have a meal out planned for tomorrow evening (Italian, my favourite) and we’re having a birthday lunch with birthday cake on Sunday! He’s been in Berlin all week, my kids like to make their birthday celebrations last for a week!!!! 🙂

Hope you all have a lovely weekend and be careful in that snow if you have some, it hasn’t arrived here yet despite the threats. It’s actually wet and windy here, I’m hoping it’s going to pass us by!

Enjoy your weekend and thanks as always for dropping by! 🙂

*** edited ~ we now have snow!!! 😦 ***

We have lost our blue skies today, it’s cold, wet and grey but I’m surrounding myself with flowers to keep in the pre~spring frame of mind!!

These beautiful paper white narcissus are brightening the kitchen.

I have these cheerful and long~lasting Peruvian lilies on my dining room table.

And I have a window box full of pretty primula on my kitchen window sill which should last if the cats don’t sit on them!!!!

I have also been buying some gorgeous floral fabric too with dreams of some flowery bunny skirts! All the above fabrics with the exception of the crocus print came from this little Ebay shop, it has very reasonable prices and postage costs, just in case you’re in fabric buying mode!

Wishing you all a happy Wednesday and fear not we’re half~way through January now and ‘real’ spring is near! 🙂

We’ve had some beautiful blue skies this week. This photo was taken on Thursday morning, it looked like someone had scribbled on the sky! I’m hoping that they stay blue or at least don’t hold any snow, that doesn’t really go with the pre~spring plan.

Sky Collage

I’ve spent quite a bit of the week spring cleaning, I like to get it done before ‘real’ spring arrives as I don’t want to waste any ‘real’ spring time cleaning, if you get my drift!! I can’t say I enjoy it but it must be done.

Not all of my time this week has been spent cleaning though (heaven forbid!!), I’ve taken inspiration from the lovely skies to make another little bunny cardigan for my next little girl. I really love the colours I’m working with this time. Hopefully I’ll be able to share her with you soon.

On the subject of bunnies, thank you all so much for your lovely comments on my last bunny, Flora!!

Wishing you all a lovely weekend, no snow please!!! 🙂

Hi everyone, I have a new little girl to introduce you to today, my first of 2013!

I would like you to meet Flora! 🙂

With a name like Flora she just had to have lots of flowers and she’s very pink!!!

She’ll soon be off to live in Devon which I know she’s going to love.

This is Flora in the greenhouse with me today enjoying the sunshine. This pre-spring is going well, with the sunshine and the mild weather today it actually felt like real spring.

Hope you’re having a lovely pre-spring week too, thanks as always for dropping by! 🙂

Welcome to pre-spring!!!

Anyone who is a regular visitor here will know that according to the Green Rabbit calendar we are now in pre-spring!

If you’re new here the Green Rabbit calendar is as follows ~

Pre-Spring ~ January and February
Spring ~ March, April and May
Summer ~ June, July, August and September
Autumn ~ October and November
Winter ~ December

I’m sure you’ll agree this is a much better calendar than the normal one, one month of winter is really enough for anyone.

The first photo was taken on the first day of the year and just look at the sky, the weather has been extremely mild and there are lots of signs that spring is on the way.

Bulbs are pushing their way through the soil all over my garden!

In fact I’m only beginning to realise how many bulbs I planted last autumn!!!

The little primroses that I kept in the greenhouse since last spring are now beginning to bloom.

The trees too are beginning to come to life again with lots of little buds forming, it really seems no time since they dropped their leaves, I much prefer this time of year though when it’s all beginning to happen again.

So with images like these how can you not agree that we are edging closer to springtime. I know a lot of people don’t like January but I love the fact that we can see spring and summer on the horizon.

Of course no time in the garden happens without at least one assistant (usually more), today’s helper was the beautiful Lily!

I hope you all manage to get out outside this weekend to look for the signs of spring and embrace this hopeful time of year!!!

Happy weekend! 🙂
