I planted my tomato seeds today, always a very satisfying thing to do! I feel kind of content now knowing that they are in their compost beds beginning the growing process. It’s always a job on my mind at this time of year but one that’s sometimes hard to get motivated to do if the weather is poor. Happily though the sun has been shining brightly and the greenhouse is very cosy, just the ticket for germinating seeds. I planted Moneymaker and Gardeners Delight, my two favourites, I did look at other varieties when I was buying my seeds but in the end opted for what I know works well for me. So I’m now looking forward to freshly picked warm tomatoes from the greenhouse in the summer.
I seem to be drawn to all things red today as I have been working on a little red bunny cardigan. The whole bunny is a bright primary colour inspired little bun. I’ll hopefully have her ready to share with you soon. It’s been a bit hard to settle myself to do anything this week with all the kitchen work going on, however I think I can see the light at the end of a very dusty tunnel!!
While on the subject of all things red, I would like to draw your attention to this little project, the Red Nose Day Dolls.
I’m sure many of you have heard all about it already but if not it’s an amazing project involving many clever craftspeople. A set of four dolls have been made and along with their many wonderful accessories they are going to be auctioned for Comic Relief between the 7th and 17th March on Ebay, all money raised will go towards Red Nose Day 2013. If you click on the photo above it will take you to the Red Nose Day Dolls Facebook page where you can read all about the project.
Happy Tuesday, thanks for dropping by! 🙂

I have, at last, some little crocuses in bloom in my garden and they have been opening up their little petals towards the very welcome sunshine this week.
They’re such brave little souls because despite the sun it has been bitterly cold outside these last few days.
You may well be wondering about the title of my post!
Well no, I’ve not started harvesting my own saffron, unfortunately my crocuses are not saffron crocuses!
Saffron is my new little girl and she takes her name from the beautiful colour that saffron spice produces. She also has an array of little crocuses on her skirt. Her colours also echo the sunshine we have been lucky to have this week (we’ll just forget about the low temperatures).
Almost the end of another week and February is disappearing very quickly. My daughter announced this morning that it is only 18 weeks until her wedding which I have to admit shocked me slightly, that doesn’t seem so far away now.
The ‘men’ have finished for the week now, having cleared the old kitchen completely and installed all the new electrics and plumbing. The kitchen fitters will arrive on Monday morning to install the new kitchen. My house is a mess but at least it is quiet again, for a few days anyway.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend and as always thanks for visiting. 🙂
P.S. There’s 50% off in my shop at the moment, just enter 50OFF at the checkout!!!

It used to be I never won anything, not a thing no matter how many competitions or giveaways I entered it was always someone else who was the lucky one.
Lately though this seems to have changed as I have been so lucky to win so many lovely things.
Last month I received an email from Jane Crowfoot letting me know that I had won the above competition which I had entered at the end of last year in Simply Crochet magazine.
I had forgotton all about entering but I was absolutely thrilled to win such a brilliant prize, worth £195!!!
Just as my daughter was leaving the house one morning last week she shouted in “Mum I have just signed for a parcel for you from the postman”. It was quite a heavy box and I couldn’t think what it was I had ordered, nothing came to mind. My daughter delayed her departure as she was just as
nosy curious to see what it was too.
When the box was opened this wonderful array of yarn was revealed. Thirty one balls of Rowan Cotton Glacé, a yarn I love, in colours which could have been picked for me personally!
There is something so wonderful about this much colourful yarn all in the one place. Breathtaking actually!
As it is a crochet-along I’m not sure exactly what it is I’m making yet. I do know that it is a Persian and Islamic inspired design hence the wonderful yarn colours. I receive my first set of patterns by email next week and then once a month until July, so looking forward to that.
I also know that it involves beading as these three packets of gorgeous Debbie Abraham Beads arrived with the delicious yarn.
So haven’t I been a lucky girl!! I just hope I can do the project justice and most importantly keep up with it.
My home is upside down at the moment as we are about to get a new kitchen fitted! I am so looking forward to my new kitchen, just not the upheaval that will go with it. Everything that lives in the kitchen is now distributed throughout the rest of the house. It’s a nightmare and from tomorrow onwards for a week or more I’m going to have ‘men’ in my home, don’t you just hate it when you have ‘men’ in your home!!!
I think I may just retire to my bedroom with my crochet!
Happy Tuesday, we have sun again! 🙂

Happy Valentine’s Day!
Not being the most romantic person in the world, Valentine’s Day usually means sweets and chocolates to me rather than love. What with Pancake Tuesday and Valentines Day all falling in the one week this year it has been quite a treat filled few days!!!
I must say though I did receive some of my favourite perfume from my Hb!
What a lovely day it is today after what has been a quite grey, wet and cold period, today is bright and the temperature is quite pleasant.
My little primula are very happy indeed!
I’m still waiting for some of my garden bulbs to bloom though, I’m sure I had some out before this time last year.
I was very lucky this week to receive this pretty little brooch which I won in a giveaway. It was made by the talented Claire Garland from Dot Pebbles! If you love little knitted animals and toys you’ll love Claire’s blog, I have actually been very lucky on Claire’s blog because a few weeks back I was also lucky enough to win this beautiful pattern too. Claire has written quite a few books which you can find here. You can also find her here, here and here.
I’m fortunate in that as my name begins with ‘V’ it means I can wear my little brooch all year round and not just on Valentine’s Day!
I’ve finished my fourth and final Valentine girl, for this year anyway.
Her name is Aimee which is from the French je-taime (I love you) and means beloved friend, quite appropriate don’t you think.
Well, as I started with some sweeties for Valentines Day, I thought I’d finish with some too!!
Have a lovely rest-of-the-week and a wonderful weekend, thanks as always for all your visits and encouraging comments!
And again Happy Valentine’s Day !!! 🙂

The batter is made up!
Just waiting for everyone to come home and then I’ll heat up the pan!
Happy Pancake Tuesday!!! 🙂

This little lady is Blush, she’s a shy little thing and just loves pink, as you can tell!!!
I had only intended to make two Valentine girls but it’s going to be four in the end with just one more to come.
This is my first pink bunny, as you know I’m not a huge fan of pink myself but I know lots of people out there do love it and in fact Blush is heading off to her new family today!
So another week over and what a mixed bag of weather we’ve had, from snow to sunshine. One thing that is very noticeable though is the stretch in the evenings, it is still light at 5.30pm! Definitely pre~spring!
Let’s hope this weekend we all have some sunshine with no snow, rain or gales and lots of tea, chocolate and crafting! Now wouldn’t that be a perfect pre~spring weekend!!!
Thanks for dropping by.
Happy weekend! 🙂

Guess what we woke up to this morning???
Yuck! It’s no secret that I loathe this horrible stuff but not everyone around these parts feels the same!!!
Oh no, these two boys were having a ball in it!
Charlie and R.J. thought this was just the best fun ever.
Chasing imaginary things across the garden!
Wrestling with each other.
I took these photos from the safety and warmth of my living room. There was no sign of the girls at all just this pair of daft boys. Their paws must have been freezing!!!! It was very entertaining to watch though.
R.J. in particular just couldn’t stay out of it, he really loved it!
I, however, am glad to say that it is now raining and hopefully it will be all gone in the not too distant future.
Sorry R.J. !
Happy (snowless) Tuesday! 🙂
