April 2013

How beautiful has it been today, just look at that sky!!

I really love these daffodils that have bloomed this week, the centre is such a pretty colour.

My flowering currant is now in bloom too.

It’s not just me enjoying the sunshine and flowers though, there are all sorts of bees and buzzy things out there today!

Bees are so difficult to photograph, it’s not hard to work out why they are called busy bees! Yesterday I signed a petition to ban the pesticides that are killing our bees. We need to help to protect these little creatures!

I haven’t actually seen any butterflies yet in the garden but this little one has appeared at Green Rabbit HQ.

Vanessa Collage

When I finished this little lady, I wanted to give her a name associated with butterflies as she has butterflies on her skirt and her bow and her cardigan is fastened with one too. After a little bit of research I found out that Vanessa is the genus of butterfly that the beautiful Red Admiral (Vanessa atalanta) and Painted Lady (Vanessa cardui) butterflies belong to, so Vanessa it was!

Hope the sun has been shining on you today too!

Happy Tuesday! 🙂

I really cannot believe that April is almost at an end, how on earth did that happen!!!

The most noticeable thing that April has brought with it, is a bit of warmth and that along with the rain has resulted in so much greenery in the garden and so many shoots and flowers sprouting up everywhere.

Not only is it lovely to see the garden growing but also lovely to be able to get out there and enjoy it, between showers that is!

April greens Collage

I really am enjoying the flowers, winter has been long and it is good to see them. The little narcissus with the orange centre in the above photo has the most amazing scent.

Well this little lady is not so much April greens but a green April! With her fresh green and white colours I have named her April. She has tiny black beads along the bottom of her cardigan to match the centres of the flowers on her skirt, they remind me of seeds.

So another weekend just around the corner, I hope it’s a wonderful one for you all!
Thanks as always for dropping by!

Happy weekend! 🙂

We took in a bit of culture on Saturday when we visited the Andy Warhol exhibition in the MAC (Metropolitan Art Centre) in Belfast.

We have been meaning to go for weeks and something always got in the way but with only a week left of the exhibition, this past weekend we made a point of seeing it.

Warhol 1 Collage

It wasn’t a huge exhibition but very interesting all the same. Andy Warhol is one of those artists that I think you either love or loathe. I have to say I love him. His images always take me back to my son’s and daughter’s GCSE and ‘A’ Level art days when he was always used as a point of reference. My son in particular was a fan. Those Campbell soup tins were always in the sketch books and if there is one thing I found disappointing about the exhibition is that there wasn’t a soup tin in sight!

Warhol 3 Collage

Worth seeing??? Absolutely!

It was so beautiful at lunchtime today, sitting out in the garden, sun shining, cats at my feet, washing drying on the line!

Guess what it’s doing this evening though ~ raining!! There’s no sitting outside, no sun, no cats (they have more sense) and the washing is dripping on the line because I thought it was only going to be a shower and left it!

I suppose that’s April for you, sunshine and showers!

I’ve been a lucky girl again, when the lovely Emma Varnam held a giveaway on her blog to win a signed copy of her new crochet book Crocheted Keyrings & Charms, I just had to join in and you’ve guessed it, I won. It’s a gorgeous book and it even has a little rabbit bag charm, what more could a bunny lover want!

Well I have managed to get at least one of the little cardigans from earlier in the week onto a bunny!

I’d like you all to meet Tawny.

Owl Collage

Tawny is named after a beautiful little owl and she has little owls all over her skirt and her cardie is fastened by one too.

Another weekend almost here again, I hope you all have a lovely one and lets hope the weather behaves itself for all of us! Thank you all for your visits and your lovely comments which I always enjoy reading.

Happy weekend! 🙂

You know how it is, sometimes you just want to make something in particular.

Then you want to make another one!

And then another one!!

What I need to do is make some bunnies to wear these cardigans but I was just in a cardie making mood, so I went with the flow.

Thank you all so much for all the Violet love in my last post, I think I may have misled some of you into thinking that Bunny Violet was attending my daughters wedding, little Violet will be attending another wedding along with her little friend.

We have a very breezy day here today but it is bright and sunny with it, a great day drying your washing outside!

Wishing you all a very happy Tuesday, thanks as always for dropping by! 🙂

This little lady has been made as a companion for a little bridesmaid!

They both share the same style of dress and the same name.

I suspect both Violet’s are very much looking forward to the wedding!

Have a wonderful weekend, we started off with so much promise weather~wise and then it all went horribly wrong!!!

Happy weekend, whatever the weather! 🙂

Isn’t this spring weather holding up nicely, it is in this little corner of the UK anyway!

tues spring Collage

It’s not however as warm as the weekend was, the wind has turned quite chilly again, so the gardening has been mostly of the greenhouse variety. When the sun’s shining it’s very cosy in there!

So cosy I always have a little friend in there with me, Lily loves to be with me when I’m in the greenhouse.

Activities though are still mostly indoor ones and I have been busy with my hooks!!

Have a good rest-of-the-week! 🙂

This was the sky late this afternoon, I’m almost afraid to say it but I think spring may be thinking about staying with us. Now it was still quite chilly but if you could find a little sheltered spot there was some warmth in the sun.

spring garden Collage

The forget-me-not’s are just beginning to open and there is quite an abundance of daffodils in bloom now and the evenings, oh the evenings are lovely, still light until almost 9 o’clock. The thing I love most about the longer evenings is listening to the blackbirds singing, you can tell that they’re happy too. So I think we can safely say this time that spring has sprung!!!

On the subject of birds, I have a new little bird to share with you!

Paloma Collage

This little lady with her whites and greys reminded me so much of a little dove that I named her Paloma! I know the photos look like I have turned them to black and white but no, those are her colours. I’m actually quite jealous of Paloma with her Orla Kiely skirt!!! Her cardigan is crocheted in grey cotton and she is made from an angora mix yarn so she is soft and fluffy.

Well let’s hope this lovely weather sticks around for a little while longer, I purposely didn’t look at the weather forecast because if it’s not good I don’t want to know!

Thanks as always for you visits and lovely comments and have yourselves a wonderful weekend! 🙂

Goodness what a lot of entries in the giveaway, thank you all so much for entering, thanks too to all those lovely Facebook folk who joined in the fun as well.

WordPress very kindly number all my comments which makes it nice and easy to use the Random Number Generator, there were a few people who left their comments in the reply section of other comments and didn’t get a number but please don’t worry if you did this as I gave you numbers at the end so you didn’t miss out on the draw.

So watched by the independent adjudicator (my husband) I loaded up the Random Number Generator with the 160 entries and pushed the button!

Number 55 was the chosen one and that was Gina!

Little Posie will be on her way to Gina today!

Thank you all so much for taking the time to enter it’s just a shame there can only be one winner.

There will of course be more bunnies, unfortunately though I have had to close my waiting list for rabbits for the time being as there are quite a few people on it now. I am going on holidays in the second half of May and when I return it will only be one month to my daughters wedding, so June will be very busy family-wise. I hope to clear the list before I go away on holiday but adding any more names now would mean those people may not be getting bunnies until mid-July onwards which in my opinion is too long to ask people to wait. I will of course continue to make them and when I have some available after everyone on the list has their rabbit, I will either open the list again or pop them into my Etsy shop. I do hope you all understand but family life is getting a little busy at the moment. There will of course always be rabbits, I enjoy making them too much, it’s just how I manage it all at the moment.

There are also so many more things I want to make too like the many blankets I have started also the Crochet Club which I was so lucky to win a place in needs caught up with as well!!! The garden is calling me too, sometimes 24 hours in a day just isn’t enough! I also want to try other little animals too like this little lady that I made for a lovely friends birthday recently!

Pricilla Collage

This is Pricilla and I had a lot of fun making her!

Thanks again for entering the giveaway and all your support for my bunny venture, I really do appreciate it!

Happy Tuesday! 🙂
