Honeysuckle and roses, they just speak summer don’t they!
The hedgerows have been full of them this year, I think the recession has helped with our wild flowers, as the councils don’t seem to have the resources to keep the hedgerows trimmed and as a result all these beautiful flowers have been allowed to run riot!
I love how honeysuckle and roses love to be together, growing beside each other and often around each other.
And the scent, two of the prettiest scents on the planet.
They’re not just in the hedgerows either, I have them both in my garden too.
They’re growing just below my bedroom window and the scent is amazing especially in the evenings.
Just like the hedgerows they’re growing side by side in my garden too.
Is it any wonder then that I was inspired to create two new little summer girls. I think Honeysuckle will become one of my favourites, as I just love her cardie and skirt.
I actually surprised myself that I hadn’t yet made a ‘Rose’, there has been a Lavender Rose, a Rosa and a Rosebud but never a Rose until now!
And here they are together in the garden as all honeysuckle and roses should be!
Happy Tuesday ! 🙂

This little lady is Eden and she has been made for my daughter for her new home.
I really enjoyed making her as I love the colours of her clothes. I brought her skirt fabric back from France!
My daughter’s new address has the word ‘eden’ in it, so she more or less named herself. I love the name Eden though, it conjures up images of gardens for me.
On the subject of gardens, mine although no Eden is blooming away and giving me a lot of pleasure in this gorgeous sunshine.
They are talking thunderstorms, now I don’t mind a bit of thunder and lightning but usually when it starts raining here it doesn’t know when to stop and I don’t want the sunshine to go!
Wishing you all a wonderful week!
Right I’m off now, back to the BBC news channel as I don’t want to miss the Royal baby announcement ~ so exciting!! 🙂
edited ~ a new little Prince, congratulations to the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge!

I have finally got around to sorting out my photos from last week’s outings. We had lovely weather for my Hb’s time off work and we made the most of it by getting out and about, a lot!!! Be warned this is a very picture-heavy post!
These first lot of photos are from Antrim Castle Gardens, Co Antrim.
All the following pics were taken at Gosford Forest Park, Co Armagh. Gosford has a huge castle which is now, believe it or not, used as apartments, quite a grand place to live!!
And finally our day out at the seaside, at Groomsport, Co Down.
So that was last week, if you are still with me, thank you, I just needed to get it all recorded.
The weather has been absolutely wonderful, not only last week but this week and by the sound of things next week too! Happy days!!
Thanks as always for dropping by, have yourselves a wonderful weekend! 🙂

Today was St Swithun’s Day and according to the rhyme…….
St Swithun’s day if thou dost rain
For forty days it will remain
St Swithun’s day if thou be fair
For forty days ’twill rain nae mare
……we should be enjoying 40 more days of sunshine, in this neck of the woods anyway, I hope so in your neck of the woods too!
This was the last day of my Hb’s holidays and we decided to pay a visit to the Rose Garden at Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park in Belfast. This is Rose Week at the gardens and there are lots of events taking place including the rose trials when the roses are judged. I wouldn’t like to be a judge as how anyone could possibly pick one above the other, I don’t know!!!
There are thousands of roses and this year they are particularly beautiful because there hasn’t been the usual rain to destroy them. So many years when we have visited the poor flowers were fading before they had even opened up but not this year.
There was even a harpist to serenade us as we walked around! Sunshine, roses, a beautiful scent in the air and harp music, pretty perfect, don’t you think!
So a very pleasant way to spend an afternoon, now I’m looking forward to the next 40 days of sunshine!!
Have a great week! 🙂

What a gorgeous day it has been, so hot but I love it, I was to born to live in sunshine!!
We have spent the day in the garden, isn’t it great when you can eat every meal outside.
During the week we have visited gardens and forest parks but today we have just chilled (not sure if that’s the correct word) at home.
Tomorrow we’re off to the seaside and hopefully I’ll have a post next week showing some of the places we have been, I have so many photos, just need to edit them down a bit!
Today’s photos however are just from outside my backdoor!
Caught in the act !!!
When you permanently wear a fur coat, you have to find shelter where you can.
I even managed to finish a little bunny cardigan this afternoon too!
Thanks again for all your visits and for all your lovely comments on my wedding post, you really are all so kind!
Happy weekend! 🙂

Well the 3rd July 2013, our daughter and her now husband’s wedding day was everything we had hoped and planned for and much more. The weather behaved itself perfectly (thank you for crossing everything). It really was great and I can’t quite believe that a week has now passed since the ‘big day’!
As promised here a few wedding photos, I’m afraid we actually have limited photos at the moment as we were in so many of them and we’re relying on others to provide us with some until the official photos are ready. I know there were thousands (not exaggerating!) taken but we still only have a few !
Just a couple of things! The bridesmaids dresses were Copen Blue and not lilac which they appear to be in the group photo, they are more like the colour of the delphiniums in Lyndsey’s bouquet and I am really sorry but I don’t have any photos yet of the whole bridal party so you will have to take my word for it that the boys were all extremely handsome. Also I don’t usually have that grin on my face (I hope I don’t in all the photos) and my hair isn’t usually that big!
So just a little snippet of the day, there was so much more captured which I don’t have any photos of yet, I can’t wait to see the official photos. She got the wedding she had always dreamed of and we all had a wonderful day!
They are on honeymoon now cruising the Mediterranean starting in Rome, visiting Naples and the Almalfi Coast, Malta, Mykonos, Santorini, Ephesus, to name a few and finishing in Venice.
Meanwhile here at home my Hb is off on holidays this week and we having lovely days out, picnicking, walking and enjoying this fantastic weather.
Happy Wednesday my friends and thank you all so much for your lovely comments, emails and good wishes for Lyndsey and Jonny’s wedding day!

Well my daughter’s and her fiance’s big day has arrived and if WordPress gets this correct by the time you are reading this we will have sat down to our reception meal. I have included some photos to give you a little taste of the day, there will be more of course.
Blocks commissioned from the ever so clever Fee!
Card made by my lovely talented blog friend, Jane.
Many, many crocheted linen corsages made as favours for the lady guests.
Well I’m sure you have figured out there is a Parisian theme running throughout the wedding, it’s a city they both love and where they got engaged 18 months ago.
We have lots of lace, the most beautiful shade of blue and a vintage vibe going on as well!
Thank you all so much for your lovely kind wishes in my last post, they were very much appreciated.
I’ll be back soon with some more photos.
