Happy Winter Solstice!
Such a wonderful feeling knowing that the light is returning, even though we won’t really notice it for a little while, it does feel good knowing that it is happening.
I took the above photo in my garden this morning and if you look closely you can see buds on my cherry tree….happy days!
I have some snowdrops in bloom too!
And despite it being December there are still some vivid colours in my garden.
However even though I’m out in my garden looking for signs of spring, I’m not completely ignoring Christmas!!
I’ve been painting tins again and made this one to hold some holly.
The Peppermint Bark has been made.
The Christmas tree(s) have been decorated.
Candles and fires have been lit……….
……..and we’ve cosied up to enjoy the season.
My son comes home from Berlin tonight for a week and as my daughter and son-in-law don’t live too far away, I’ll have all my family around me for Christmas.
All that remains now is to thank all you lovely friends for continuing to visit me here throughout the year and to wish you all a very, very Happy Christmas!!! xxx
Just dropping by with the last little collection of animals for 2015, the three ‘Winter Girls’.
I have made 75 animals throughout 2015!
This year I introduced you to some new little creatures adding lop bunnies, dutch bunnies, foxes, mice and one hare to my original (and still my favourite) bunnies.
I’m so happy that they are living all over the world and I would like to thank you all for your support, please know that I don’t for one minute take it for granted.
Ok, let’s meet the ‘Winter Girls’!!
This is Frost the Fox, the first of the ‘Winter Girls’ and you don’t get much more wintery than frost!! Brrrr!!!
Frost has little beads around her cardigan that sparkle like frost on the ground!
This little one is Evergreen!
Traditionally evergreens have been used to decorate homes at this time of year to ward off evil spirits and to celebrate new life.
Certainly with their vivid greens and bright red berries, just like Evergreen’s buttons, they brighten up this dark time of the year.
The last of the ‘Winter Girls’ and indeed the final Green Rabbit animal for 2015 is Solstice!
Solstice’s dress has winter trees with their bare branches silhouetted against a low winter sun.
On the 22nd of this month the Winter Solstice occurs and that winter sun will begin to rise again and the longer days will slowly return, that of course is how this little bunny got her name.
All three of the ‘Winter Girls’ will be listed in my Etsy shop this evening, Monday 14th December at 10pm (GMT). Please remember they are collectible items only and not suitable for children under 14 years of age. You can find out more details about them here.
Happy Monday! 🙂
